Message from the Executive Dean
Welcome to the Faculty of Education and Arts. The four Schools in the Faculty provide undergraduate and postgraduate education in performing and visual arts, music and music technologies, advertising, public relations, communications, television, broadcasting, photography, journalism, creative writing, English, Politics, History, Language studies, Geography, literature, arts management, theatre production, fashion, multimedia, design and Indigenous services as well as the full range of courses within Teacher Education covering all areas from Early Childhood Studies to Secondary teaching.
The professional orientation of many of our undergraduate programs includes an extensive program of work experience, internships and clinical education through the Fogarty Learning Centre. In addition the Faculty regularly exhibits student work at the Spectrum Art Gallery in Northbridge and holds public performances in theatres at the WA Academy of Performing Arts.
The Faculty boasts state of the arts facilities including computer laboratories, art and design studios, theatres, digital video, music and broadcast suites.
We have strong links with the major employers in the relevant industries including learning partnerships with school systems, commercial operators and joint research programs in areas such as education, applied linguistics, communications and disability services.
For qualified professionals and career changers, the Faculty also has a range of graduate programs in education, all areas of communications, arts management, counselling, Indigenous services and the humanities. Amongst our graduates are Hugh Jackman, Lisa McCune and Frances O'Connor. A recent prize-winning graduate of the postgraduate writing program was Danielle Wood, winner of the Vogel literary award.
